11th ANNUAL JO BEERS PIE CONTEST & AUCTION

Location: Variety Tent, Johnson County Fairgrounds
Competition Check-In: 12:00 – 12:30 p.m.
Competition: 12:45 - 2:30 p.m.
Silent Auction: 3:00 – 4:00 p.m.
Live Auction: 3:15 p.m.
Divisions: Youth – 18 years old & under
Adult – Over 18 years old
Classes (Homemade Double Crust Only): Cherry, Apple,
Berry (Any), Peach, Other Fruit, & Combination
Additional Youth Division Class: Purchased pie crust – any fruit (double crust)
No refrigerated, custard, cream, meat, or single-crust pies allowed.
All fillings must be made by the exhibitor.
No meat, dairy products, or eggs are allowed in the fillings.
Premiums for placings 1 to 3 in each class with trophies to all 1st-place winners.
Certificates awarded for the best filling, best crust, most creative (NEW!), and most
visually appealing pies. A special premium will be awarded to the overall best pie.
ALL pies will be sold at auction — NO EXCEPTIONS.
NO PIE TINS OR PLATES WILL BE RETURNED TO ENTRANTS.
All pie tins or plates will be sold in the auction with the pies.
No pre-entry required.
No entry fee.
Complete recipe with all ingredients and instructions for the filling and crust must accompany entry and will NOT be returned to entrant. Recipes may be published.
An invitational celebrity pie contest will again be held in 2017
and will be judged separately from the rest of the contest.
Proceeds of the auction will be divided evenly between the Jo Beers
Altrusa Scholarship Fund and the Johnson County Agricultural Association.
